First, from the Crew. Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels (-132) Friday at 10:05 p.m. ET

Jake Peavy will start for Chicago.  Peavy has enjoyed a fine comeback campaign, going 11-11 with a 3.26 ERA.  The righty has been very consistent over the past two months, holding eight of his past 10 opponents to three runs or less including each if his past three starts.  Peavy beat Minnesota in his last start, allowing two runs through six innings.  He’s yet to face the Angels this season, which is probably a good thing; Peavy is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in four career starts against Los Angeles.

The Angels will counter with Dan Haren.  The right-hander has ground his way through a tough season, going 11-11 with a 4.41 ERA.  He’s been much improved since the All-Star break, though, going 5-3 with a 3.56 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in his past 10 starts.  Haren has allowed three runs or less in five straight outings, and he’s coming off a win over Kansas City.  He allowed three runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings of work.  Haren pitched a gem against Chicago earlier this season, allowing a single run through six innings.  He’s 1-1 with a 3.64 ERA in five career starts against the Sox.

Peavy traditionally struggles against the Angels.  Throw in the fact that Haren has been a different pitcher since the break, and the Angels make sense.

Pick:  Los Angeles

Now to GodsTips. MIAMI (TURNER +120) NY Mets (Niese)

The Mets are 4-17 their last 21 as a favorite, 3-13 at home to teams with a losing record. They are 20-44 the last 64 overall. In short, they suck. Clearly we are betting against the Mets more so than on Miami, but the Marlins are 5-1 their last six as an underdog of 150 or less.

The last five games Miami has a slugging percentage of .416 to .288. Betting on NL teams with a line +/- 125 of pick, averaging less than 4.1 runs per game, a bullpen ERA of 4.50 or higher and a pitcher on five or six days rest is +81.4 units including 17-7 this season +10.9 units.
