Free MLB Picks: Braves vs. Nationals Among Premium Picks

Two top OffshoreInsiders.com have premium picks for today. The first is from GodsTips, one of the few services tracing their roots back to the famed scorephone days of the 1980s.

WASHINGTON (DETWILER +105) Atlanta (Medlin)

Atlanta has lost four in a row. The Nats keep winning, even against good teams. They are 9-1 to teams with a winning record, 14-3 after allowing two runs or less their last game. In fact they have won 14-of-17 overall.

They’ve won 7-of-9 with Detwiler on the hill. Oh Kris Medlin has some nice numbers, but we’ve seen plenty of guys look great after four starts only to get smashed. And his is Medlin’s biggest test for sure—on the road against a hot team they are chasing. Come on. Washington is 8-2 at home with Ross Detwiler. The Nats are a whopping +16.2 units the last three years in the series. Atlanta is 1-5 to Detwiler—actually five straight losses.

The last five games Atlanta has a slugging percentage of just .317, which is .097 lower than Washington’s.

Now from the Canadien Crew. San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers (-111) Wednesday at 10:10 p.m. ET

Matt Cain is slated to start for the Giants.  It’s business as usual for Cain, who is 12-5 with a 2.90 ERA this season.  The righty has won back-to-back outings, giving up just three runs over 15 innings in that span.  Cain was especially sharp in his most recent start, holding the Padres to a single run over eight innings including six strikeouts and no walks.  He was solid against the Dodgers earlier this year, allowing three runs through six innings (though he allowed nine hits).  Cain is 3-8 with a 3.58 ERA in 20 career starts against Los Angeles.

The Dodgers will give the nod to Chris Capuano.  He’s been great in his first season as a Dodger, going 11-8 with a 3.14 ERA.  The lefty was solid against the Braves in his last start, allowing three runs in 7.1 innings while racking up eight strikeouts.  That followed up an eight-inning, 10-strikeout effort against Miami in his previous start.  Capuano has a 2.01 ERA in his past three starts.  He’s never had much success against the Dodgers, though, going 1-5 with a 5.00 ERA in 10 appearances (including six starts).

Capuano has been great lately, but so has Cain and Cain has a great lifetime ERA against Los Angeles despite a poor winning record.  Go with the Cy Young candidate.

Pick:  San Francisco

Top expert pick on today’s card is from GodsTips. Colorado +147, Cincinnati +144 meant yet another sweep. We are 12-6 in MLB, but as demonstrated again yesterday, that cannot do us justice because of all underdogs and small faves.

Wow, four yes four Wise Guys go today (one) and tonight (three). The big story is the MLB Dandy Dog of the Year. For those who are not professional gamblers (yet), Dandy Dogs are underdogs of 140 or more (this includes runline plays in which we get back 140 or more).
