3 Top Ranked MLB Baseball Sports Handicappers Release Free Picks

Senior Handicapper Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders.com has a free pick on the Miami Marlins (-102) to Cleveland.

Derek Lowe has been great this season. The sinker is sinking and the lean days of being a Brave last season seem well in the rear view mirror. But I still do not fully trust Lowe as I have seen too many eggs from him and no matter how rough of a start to the season Johnson had the guy still has a monster upside and after finally having quality back-to-back starts I’m back in Johnson’s corner.

The Indians are a pesky team that has looked very good at times this season. At the right price I will have no qualms about backing Carlos Santana, Shin Soo Choo and the Tribe. With that said though Reyes, Stanton and Ramirez are a trio that can be dynamite and with Johnson on the bump I’ll back the visitors at this near pick of a price.

Rivers pick: Miami Marlins

Now to premium pick 1-of-5 from GodsTips, the anchor of OffshoreInsiders.com.

WHITE SOX (PEAVY -120) Cubs (Maholm)

White Sox have won three in a row. The Cubs latest slide is five-games. The Pale Hose “soxed” the ball to a tune has a slugging percentage of .455 last five games. Their OBP in that span is .43 points higher than the Cubbies.

Oft injured Jacob Peavy is back. In eight starts his ERA is 2.65 with an even more impressive 0.919 WHIP. He has an 8-3 team mark to the Cubs with an ERA of 2.62 and a WHIP of 1.255. He also has a team record of 13-3 his last 16 on the road.

The Hose are 28-10 in IL play the last two years and 44-16 going back further. The Cubs have failed in 6-of-7 to the Junior Circuit.

Finally, it’s the wunderkinds of the Canadian Crew. Los Angeles Angels vs San Diego Padres

Odds: LAA -120/SD +110, 6.5 o/u

Hopes were high when the LA Angels acquired heavy hitter Albert Pujols in the off-season, but so far the regular season has been a disappointment. Pujols has been struggling and the team is well below .500. Any team in this situation would more than happy to welcome the, even worse, San Diego Padres. This stand could provide the Angels with a chance to grab some much needed victories.

Though they haven’t had the best start, the Padres have shown a few sparks of life recently, putting up impressive wins over the Dodger and Nationals earlier in the week. (Though they followed their LA win an equally unimpressive 8-1 loss to finish up the short stand.) Their biggest problem is that they have no middle ground. They win or lose by equally large amounts, but mostly they’re just losing.

San Diego is ranked 29th or 30th in most of the major statistical categories and are playing about as badly at home as they are on the road. And they don’t have a Pujols who is just playing poorly like the Angels do.

Taking the mound for the Padres is young Anthony Bass (2-4, 2.87 ERA). Bass is in his second season in the majors and went 2-0 last season. Already this season he’s thrown as many innings as he did all of last year and the experience is paying off. In his last start, a 5-1 win over the Nationals, he gave up just one run in eight inning while striking out seven.

Facing off against Bass is the veteran, Ervin Santana (2-6, 4.36). After a spectacular series of disappointments, Santana has started looking pretty good over his past couple of starts. Last week he shut out the A’s, giving up just four hits in 7.2 innings and striking out nine.

Bettors should also note that the Angels will be playing without outfielder Torii Hunter, who is helping defend his son against charges of sexual assault in Texas. That gap could cause some troubles for the Angels. But with the Pujols home run drought now over, they could come on strong.

We like the way the Angels are heading and think they’ll use this opportunity to start building up a few more wins.
