Senior Handicapper Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders.com has a free pick for Tuesday is on the Kansas City Royals (+134) to Detroit.
The Royals are not nearly as bad as the awful record indicates and therefore it’s not a bad time to jump on board the Kansas City train. Hosmer, Gordon and Butler form a dangerous three-some. They don’t equate to Miggy and the Prince I understand that but Luke Hochevar was a top pick a few years ago and every now and then shows that potential.
Rick Porcello also at times can hurl a high quality game but I have never trusted the guy as he also can get bombed and at a hefty enough number like this with a pretty overdue Kansas City club I am just fine in backing the visitors. Fading sketchy pitchers laying big numbers is never a terrible deal.
If the bad Hochevar shows up then it’s trouble I am not a fool and realize as such. But overall the pitcher’s are a wash and in the end this is a very winnable game for the Royals, very winnable.
Now to the wonderful Bill Tanner. Boston Celtics @ Atlanta Hawks
In game two of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks will get together on Tuesday night. Atlanta won the first game by a score of 83-74. This is the second straight game in Atlanta, as the Hawks won home court advantage by a single game over the Celtics.
The Atlanta Hawks saw Josh Smith come away with a huge game on Sunday night. Smith scored 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the win. During the regular season, the Hawks finished in second place in the Southeast Division, trailing only Miami. Atlanta ranked as the 6th best defensive team, allowing just over 93 points per game.
The Boston Celtics will be without their point guard Rajon Rondo for this game. Rondo was ejected in the loss on Sunday for bumping an official. The NBA then suspended Rondo for game two. Boston has had a tough time scoring points, as they are one of the worst in the league with just over 91 points per game.
The Boston Celtics come into the game with a 34-31-2 record against the spread on the season. Atlanta is 37-28-2 against the spread. The Celtics on the road have won just 15 of 34 games, while the Hawks are 24-10 on the road. We expect Atlanta to continue their winning ways.
Tanners Tip: Atlanta Hawks -4
Top expert pick on today’s card is from Key Play of the Day. True, the 16-9 baseball season has rocked the world of the pro gamblers and destroyed the lives of bookmakers. Pittsburgh made it another large underdog winning yesterday to vault to 16-9 this baseball season. But tonight, it’s the first of the NBA playoffs. Celtics/Hawks side is just too big and almost all sources agree on how the Rondo suspension will/won’t effect the outcome/spread of tonight. Click now to purchase
