Several piping hot—and more importantly—long-term winning handicappers have picks for Tuesday. We start out with premium pick 1-of-5 from Center of the Handicapping Universe GodsTips, anchor of OffshoreInsiders.com
KANSAS CITY (SANCHEZ +120) Cleveland (Lowe)
The road team is 13-3 in KC’s games this season and 11-3 in Cleveland’s. The Tribe are hitting .176 at home this season. The road team is 3-0 in Jonathan Sanchez’ starts. The road team is 6-1 the last seven in the series.
Derek Lowe has gotten progressively worse in each start, giving up four runs in just 4 1/3 IP in his last start.
In home/road splits or “location comparison” as we’ve called it, comparing the home teams’ home stats to the away team’s road stats KC has a slugging percentage of .399 on the road while Cleveland is .326 at home.
Their last five games KC has a slugging percentage of .431, while Cleveland’s is .310.
The real and original big bank roller Matt Rivers free pick Tuesday is on the Los Angeles Angels (+133) to Tampa.
Reasoning: Albert has to break out of this funk at some point and the Angels are a ton better than their porous record making me believe this is a good time for both to come to fruition.
David Price can be brilliant at times as the tall southpaw has all of the upside in the world. But I have also seen Price wet the bed and up against Pujols, Kendrick, Hunter, Wells and other decent enough right-handed bats plus a healthy enough number makes me all right with the visitors from the left coast.
Ervin Santana is a little feast or famine but the guy does possess electric stuff that can be absolutely nasty at times. Pitching indoors is never a bad thing and I can see Santana match Price.
Mike Scioscia is a great manager who always seems to get the most out of his team. That has not been the case yet but today can be a step towards that.
The Angels have a ton of upside and frankly too much upside in this spot at this spot so my buck’s on Anaheim.
Rivers pick: Los Angeles Angels
Now to another scores and odds expert Bill Tanner: San Francisco Giants @ Cincinnati Reds.
The San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds will get together on Tuesday for the first of a three game series at Great American Ball Park. The Giants come into Monday night with a 8-7 record; tied in second place in the NL West. The Reds are 7-9, and tied with the Brewers for second place in the NL Central.
The Reds are coming off winning two out of three against the Chicago Cubs. Cincinnati has struggled all season offensively with just a .223 batting average. The Reds top hitter; Joey Votto is batting just .291. Cincinnati will send Mat Latos to the mound in search of his first win of the season.
The San Francisco Giants beat New York early on Monday and play a late on Monday night. The Giants saw Tim Lincecum pick up his first win of the season. On Monday, Matt Cain will make the start. Cain is 1-0 on the season. The Giants top offensive player is Buster Posey, with a .375 batting average.
The San Francisco Giants are 3-5 when playing on the road, while the Cincinnati Reds have a 3-3 record at home. The Giants are just -0.16 units below when betting on them this season. The Reds are down nearly 2.5 units on the season. We like the San Francisco Giants to win this game.
Tanners Tip: San Francisco Giants +107
