2012 NBA Basketball Betting: NBA Basketball Weekend Picks For March 31-April 1

Game 1: Charlotte Bobcats @ Detroit Pistons – Saturday, March 31

Sports betting experts are likely to tell you that picking against the Charlotte Bobcats is a relatively smart choice no matter the day or the opponent involved. However, this is a particularly good spot to pick against the Bobcats. They’re playing one day after hosting the up-tempo Denver Nuggets. Detroit is also coming off a Friday game, but that one is in nearby Chicago, giving the Pistons more recuperation time. Moreover, Detroit – after going up against Chicago’s imposing and physical frontline – will find Charlotte to be tissue-soft and consistently attackable. The Pistons are also an attractive choice this weekend because they’re fighting for games instead of tanking them. Detroit was willing and able to grind out a two-point win at Washington this past Monday, prevailing in the kind of game that a lot of NBA road teams don’t find the fortitude to win in late March, when the season is winding down and the temptation to mail in an effort is particularly strong. Detroit is a solid selection in this contest against Charlotte.

Game 2: Cleveland Cavaliers @ New York Knicks – Saturday, March 31

When you do your homework and assess your sports bet on this game, you will quickly find that the Cleveland Cavaliers are losing steam. It’s bad enough to get blown out at home by anybody in the NBA, but Cleveland got throttled this past Sunday by the Phoenix Suns, a team that is going to miss the playoffs. The Cleveland franchise, until recently buoyed by the presence of LeBron James, now lives in a very different universe on a daily basis. This team doesn’t have much in the way of reinforcements. It can’t call upon a deep bench or other resources that were available two or three years ago. The New York Knicks, meanwhile, are playing hard and well for interim coach Mike Woodson, a man who commands a lot more respect in sideline huddles and in the locker room than former boss Mike D’Antoni ever did. With this game being played at Madison Square Garden in the Big Apple, the Knicks should be able to establish a comfort zone and outpace the Cavs, even without big man Amare Stoudamire, who is likely to be sidelined for awhile due to an injury announced on Monday. Take the Knicks in this tilt.

NBA Basketball Betting Pick: New York

Game 3: New Jersey Nets @ Sacramento Kings – Saturday, March 31

The when you take a quick look at this NBA contest, you don’t have to work very hard or think very long to arrive at a very simple conclusion: The New Jersey Nets are cooked. This past Monday, the Nets hosted a Utah Jazz team that had just played a four-overtime game in Atlanta against the Hawks before flying to New Jersey. Utah should have been dead on arrival. Few NBA teams should be expected to play well or have much of any success when they play a four-overtime game and then make a relatively long flight to play the second end of a back-to-back set. The final score in Newark: Utah 105, New Jersey 84. There’s really not much else to say. Take Sacramento in this game.
