NBA Handicappers, NCAA Betting Picks Vic Duke, Real Matt Rivers and More

NCAA Tournament Final Four odds are up. Senior Handicapper Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders.com has a free pick Monday is on the Charlotte Bobcats (+6.5) to Boston.

Reasoning: Charlotte stinks, I get it. Michael Jordan’s franchise is the worst in the entire NBA as not much at all has gone right this season. The talent level is low and the wins are even lower. But the long in the tooth Celtics when in a tough situation have been dreadful at times and now without Ray Allen this game on the road could be tricky.

Certainly the Celtics are the clear cut better team on the court today. Charlotte doesn’t have any chance to do anything this season and may be experimenting a bit with players to see what they have for the future. But DJ Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Tyrus Thomas and Corey Maggette are legitimate pros who can hold their own against a Boston team that just won last night at home against Washington and are playing for the fourth night in the last five. Obviously Pierce and Rondo are aging and very well could be a little fatigued today.

I have no problems backing Doc’s squad in the right spot as their is still potential and upside there. But I don’t care who they are playing here. This is just not a spot for them to have success in.

Now to Bill Tanner, another top sports handicapper. Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Washington State Cougars

Time to throw a little college basketball in the mix!  On Monday night, the Pittsburgh Panthers will take on the Washington State Cougars in the CBI Championship game.  These two teams struggled a bit this year, and really just fell apart when it mattered most, which led them to the CBI Tournament instead of the NCAA Tournament or the NIT.  Now they are meeting in the Championship game and both teams want to get the job done.  The Panthers finished the year with a 20-16 record, while the Cougars were 18-16 this year.  The Panthers beat Wofford, Princeton, and Butler to get to this point, while the Cougars knocked off San Francisco, Wyoming, and Oregon State.

It’s important to note that this is the first of the best of three series for the Championship here.  Also, Washington State could be without one of their best players in Brock Motum, who suffered a sprained right ankle in their win over Oregon State.  The chances of Motum playing are very slim, and with that being said I think that it puts this team in a very, very tough spot.  I’m rolling with the Panthers because of their talent and how well they’ve played, as well as the fact that the Cougars are without Motum!

Tanners Tip:  Pittsburgh +1

Finally to the Duke, Victor Duke it’s Miami (-2’) for 1.5 Units *’

Miami/Indiana 7:05: Indiana is coming off an impressive win at Milwaukee on Saturday whereas the Heat stumbled badly at Oklahoma City Sunday. I won’t fall into the trap of the inconsistencies that Indiana routinely displays; instead, I’ll jump on, with caution, a Miami team that has exhibited strength off losses. The Pacers are a mere 3-8 ATS vs winning teams and sport an 0-4 ATS mark in this series at home. They may be catching the Heat in a triple-revenge scenerio and have them unrested, but I won’t bank on them fulfilling their desires; after all, Indiana is a mere 1-5 ATS at home in their last 6 against teams with a winning road record; moreover, they’re going into this one on 1 day of rest but playing in their 4th game in 5 days. Miami may be unrested but fatigue shouldn’t be an issue considering the Heat was well rested going into Sunday. The Heat also respond well off of losses, especially big losses. They’re 6-0 ATS off a SU loss of 10+. And they’re 5-1 ATS after allowing 100+ points. Miami also plays well on Mondays at 8-1 ATS. The Heat have matured and meshed well since a year ago and should deliver big here.

Top expert pick on today’s card: The Boston Celtics yesterday made the Key POD 19-8 with all NBA selections this season. Tonight, get it all!
