Indiana vs. Kentucky Scores Picks; NC State vs. Kansas

Senior Handicapper Matt Rivers of has a free pick on Friday is on Kentucky (-9) to Indiana.

Reasoning: I don’t normally swallow this much chalk, as it’s a lot, but there is also every reason in the world to believe the Wildcats are going to win this game going away.

Kentucky’s home away from home for years has been at the Georgia Dome. The SEC Tournament has always been played in this venue and even though this Wildcats team are a young team that has nothing to do with season’s past there should be a familiarity comfort level in terms of the program as a whole traveling to Atlanta and playing in this building. Everything is iron tight in terms of the travel and the arena and the public relations and the numerous fans who will show up today.

Handicapper gives Indiana no shot to Kentucky

Indiana has been playing at a high level and Tom Crean has brought the school back on the map after some tough times. But let’s not forget that Verdell Jones III is out and that this team is a total three pint jump shooting team that very well could have problems playing in a spacious dome with that wide open backdrop. Plus add in the fact that the Hoosiers won the lone meeting this season on that buzzer beating three in Bloomington and I can see John Calipari have his throughbreds fired up to go out and lay a number in revenge.

Anthony Davis is a monster down low and will be a force as per usual. That will lead to IU shooting a lot of long range jumpers, which they are capable of, but in this venue in this spot with quite possibly some nerves I just don’t see it happening for them.

The Wildcats are locked and loaded and are the best team in the nation. With a score to settle and being in comfortable Atlanta I believe they will get it done going away.

I can see 76-58 in the end.

The pick: Kentucky

Now to the Duke, Victor Duke. NC State (+8’) for 1.5 Units *’

NC State/Kansas 10:17: NC State playing a great stretch of basketball with six straight covers. They’re not intimidated any more. Knocking off North Carolina, banging successfully with Big East giant Georgetown, the Wolfpack have the eye of the tiger.

Kansas, however, remains a dangerous team under Self—who has the coaching edge. He got them by Purdue and should have them playing better here. But we’ll look for NC State to hang around. Leslie and Howell proved they can score and defend in the paint. And Lorenzo Brown is a consistent double-digit scorer and rock solid floor leader.

The Wolfpack sport a sweet 20-8 ATS mark on a neutral floor and covered their last 5 as a neutral floor dog. Kansas struggles in the favorite role in this spread range at 1-5 ATS. Edge to NC State.
