VCU vs. Indiana, Iowa State vs. Kentucky Spread Picks

Here are two NCAA Tournament locks. The first of from the Captain Vic Duke, Senior Handicapper of OffshoreInsiders.com.

VCU Under (141) for 2 Units **

VCU/Indiana 7:10: VCU’s relentless defensive pressure from every angle of the floor should delay the Hoosiers’ offensive flow, which is normally smooth. VCU’s offense, which is not as productive as last year’s Final Four team, has its share of lulls and the Hoosiers’ are surely well disciplined on the defensive end to keep it that way.

Indiana hasn’t faced a constant in-your-face defense over a full court this season. Adjusting to the speed that the Rams bring at them will be challenging and should throw off their offensive rhythm. We’ll look for VCU to dictate the flow of this game and leave it “under”.

The Hoosiers are 1-5 O/U on a neutral floor and 3-7-1 O/U against teams above .600. They’re on a 2-6 O/U run. “Under” the call.

Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders.com has a Saturday pick is on Iowa State (+11.5).

Reasoning: I’m in on Royce White and the Cyclones as this team is really good and still a bit under that radar.

No I’m not saying that Iowa State is going to shock the world and win this game but Kentucky is not a world beater. Sure Anthony Davis is a monster down low defensively and the young Wildcats are quite possibly the best team in the nation but they are still not the team from two years ago with John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and others. These guys are high quality for sure but if they were to lay a bit of an egg I just wouldn’t be totally shocked. If that 2010 squad fell short this team can too and Iowa State is good enough to reap the rewards of a semi fight to the finish.

State has been very consistent all season long but because they lost 10 games and because they are still called “Iowa State” not many people paid attention. Just go look at their brutal Big 12 schedule and how they fared in it finishing up 12-6. The ‘Clones were very competitive and almost swept Kansas as they were in the lead for a lot of the game in Lawrence. They did sweep Kansas State and also beat Baylor among other solid outings.

Kentucky should do enough to move on but today’s opponent has a star in White and are tricky enough to keep this thing close enough.
