Senior Handicapper Matt Rivers of has a free pick winner is on Fairfield (-3) to Rider.

Reasoning: Rider shoved it up my butt a few days ago upsetting Loyola but I don’t see lightning striking twice. The Greyhounds were the better team but didn’t get the job done in the end and this is a similar spot with the Stags but I expect these visitors to get the job done and sweep the season series, even if a bit shorthanded.

The Broncs aren’t terrible and overall are a middle of the road MAAC squad. I have no issues with today’s home squad as they should compete but Fairfield is probably the second best team in the conference right now and almost just upset Iona on the road in that last game late loss but cover. Fairfield won the first meeting 61-52 in a game that they never trailed in. Derek Needham led the way in that thing with 15 points and even though the team’s leader was just injured against the Gaels and probably will miss today it is tough for me to believe that the Broncs are going to be able to win this game.

Former Boston College Eagle Rakim Sanders has been stepping up in a huge way and should be able to fill the void and all in all the Stags are the far superior team. Fairfield could and probably should have just won at Iona but even with that defeat have still prevailed in seven of their last eight in-conference. Needham or no Needham I’ll back Fairfield at a fairly cheap price and take my chances.

Top expert pick on this game: Fairfield

For more information: It’s officially a mini skid as the breaks have been, well, none. Maryland blew the late lead and lost by a deuce and North Carolina laying 4 won by 3 including a missed free throw on the front end of a one and one with three seconds to go. A 1-2 Saturday as I have given back a little bit, no doubt about it. I’m not worried at all though as I am the best there is and will prove it one more time. I’m still well ahead of the game as evidenced by the 17 of 29 winning days, a 28-18-3 overall run in which my teams have covered by an amazing 86 points (yes, that includes the losses) and a profit margin of 2.1 million stars.
