Free Picks Football: Navy (+16.5) to South Carolina Senior Sports Handicapper Matt Rivers has a sports betting pick winner for Saturday is on Navy (+16.5) to South Carolina.

Reasoning: There is no doubt that the Naval Academy, like pretty much always, is giving up a lot here in terms of athleticism and strength and size and all of those factors. But Navy is a tough tough team to match up against anywhere and I can see the Midshipmen in this spot hang for the bulk of the game after the Gamecocks survived between the hedges in an emotional battle against Georgia.

South Carolina has top 10 talent and there is no debating that. When Stephen Garcia is on to go along with studs, if not superstars, in Marcus Latttimore and Alshon Jeffrey the Gamecocks are a difficult team to stop and we saw that once again last week in Athens. But I do not fully trust Steve Spurrier’s squad as they are a little up and down at times and we have seen that already on the young season. In the first game they trailed 17-0 against an average at the very best East Carolina team and were losing at halftime before rallying in the second half.

Look for Navy to run away with the cover

Navy is Navy, they will run that triple option and if you’re not disciplined defending it you will give up some big plays and get hurt. The ‘Cocks have big boys that can run and make some plays on the defensive side but can they stay fully disciplined for 60 minutes? My answer is no, not an emphatic no, but a strong enough no.

SC will score and probably put up at least 35 points. But Navy will find the end zone a time or two themselves and in the end I do believe today’s gritty visitors will do enough to grab that cash.

Top expert pick on this game: Navy

For more information: Yup, that’s right, the biggest day of the football season is upon us and I’m striking while the iron is hot. I am not a guy who releases a lot of games as quantity is usually not the answer but today is a special day as I have not one, but two 400,000* plays involving Stanford-Arizona and Tennessee-Florida plus a 300,000* on Michigan State and Notre Dame and a 200,000* Arizona State-Illinois.

Four absolutely phenomenal plays and I could not feel any better about this terrific slate. To say that I would be shocked if I don’t sweep the board and go 4-0 would be the understatement of all understatements. Click now to purchase
