Preseason Primer: NFL News and Notes For NFLX Odds Week 1 (1st Report)
Professional sports gamblers are confident the NFL lockout means that this will be the best NFL preseason picks season ever. Here is the first look at the famed preseason primer for betting experts.
Thursday, August 11
Ravens vs. Eagles
The Eagles will likely be without their top two WRs. Jeremy Maclin has a mysterious illness and DeSean Jackson just ended his holdout Sunday night.

The Philadelphia Eagles will probably play their first NFL preseason odds game without their top two WRs
Broncos vs. Cowboys
Many bettors love to wager on teams with big QB battles and the Broncos fit the bill. Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow will likely have the most high-profile fights for No. 1 than any in years.
Friday, August 12
Bengals vs. Lions
Cincinnati starting QB Carson Palmer is out demanding a trade. Rookie Andy Dalton is now the starter followed by Bruce Gradkowski. The big battle is for No. 3 between Jordan Palmer and Dan LeFevour.
The Lions are without power RB Mikel Leshoure, who likely would have gotten a lot of carries in the preseason.
Saturday, August 13
Giants vs. Panthers
New York DE Osi Umenyiora is doubtful because of a contract squabble. However, this creates a big opportunity for Jason Pierre-Paul, who many experts expect him to have a big breakout year according to betting expert Bill Tanner.
Giants first-round pick CB Prince Amukamara is out, though the Giants do have good depth at CB. Already minus key players from last year, NY Giants wide receiver Steve Smith is a free agent, so unless he signs quickly, don’t expect him in uniform for opening night.
Colts vs. Rams
There may be some rare urgency in the Colts camp as superstar QB Peyton Manning is out. Curtis Painter is No. 1 and Dan Orlovsky the backup until Manning returns.
Packers vs. Browns
Arguably the top NFL preseason picks expert Mike Godsey of GodsTips says that the Browns offense has looked horrible in camp so far. “There were alignment errors on offense, plenty of drops and an overall lack of talent,” reports ESPN.com’s James Walker.
